The 2024 Solid Waste Resource Utilization Innovation and Green Development Summit, hosted by the China Recycling Resources Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance, was held in Tianjin from October 26 to 27, 2024, celebrating the alliance's 15th anniversary. At the event, Hunan Vary Tech Co., Ltd. was distinguished with the "Top Ten Green and Low-Carbon Technology Achievement Award" for its "Recycling Technology and Equipment for Spent Lithium-Ion Battery Materials." This prestigious honor not only acknowledges Vary Tech's substantial contributions to the field of green and low-carbon technology but also highlights the crucial role of recycling and processing spent lithium batteries in the sustainable development of the new energy sector.

With the rapid development of the new energy vehicle industry and the coming of the retirement wave of lithium batteries, the treatment of waste lithium batteries has become a focal issue in the industry. Against this backdrop, Vary Tech, with its nearly 20 years of deep cultivation in the field of solid waste resource utilization, relies on core technologies such as mechanical crushing and sorting, and oxygen-free pyrolysis, to provide market-leading innovative solutions for waste lithium-ion batteries.

The current lithium battery processing technology on the market faces many challenges, including complex processes, high costs, especially the difficulty in breaking through the development of thermal treatment equipment. Traditional processing equipment involves numerous procedures, up to 19 steps, with complex thermal treatment processes that include low-temperature solvent volatilization, medium-temperature diaphragm carbonization, high-temperature binder carbonization, etc. It also requires multi-stage flue gas treatment, resulting in high energy consumption and processing costs, and making it difficult to ensure environmental compliance and safety.
For these issues, Vary Tech has dedicated over 10 years of research and development, overcoming key technologies such as pyrolysis oil and gas sealing, flue gas sealing, and innovatively proposing an integrated continuous pyrolysis comprehensive recycling technology. By applying flexible combined sealing technology, the leakage coefficient is maintained at zero, achieving a truly oxygen-free environment, ensuring safe and stable operation of the equipment. At the same time, the closed-loop application of pyrolysis gas generated during system operation significantly reduces energy consumption and emissions by over 80%. This breakthrough technology shows significant advantages in simplifying operational processes, reducing energy consumption and costs, improving resource recovery efficiency and safety, providing new solutions for industry development.
The comprehensive suite of equipment is capable of efficiently segregating valuable substances, including copper foil, aluminum foil, and black powder, thereby establishing a solid foundation for the recycling of resources. Designed with a modular architecture, the equipment can be conveniently split into two autonomous units for flexible operation, which substantially diminishes the incidence of equipment linkage malfunctions. It is ideally suited for the recycling of small cylindrical batteries, square soft-pack batteries, and miniature batteries. The pyrolysis unit, as the core component, can also be utilized independently as a batch pyrolysis system for the recycling of lithium battery waste. The innovative crushing and screening process at the backend employs a core device featuring eddy current crushing and grading, which condenses the traditional seven-step process into just four, markedly reducing equipment failure rates and operational expenses. This technology has been successfully implemented in numerous projects across Jiangxi and Hunan provinces.

This summit marks the 15th anniversary of the China Renewable Resources Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance, a milestone of unparalleled magnitude. The event is graced by the presence of distinguished guests such as Academician Shen Baogen, Chairman of the Alliance's Expert Committee, and Academician Zhao Zhongwei, Executive Chairman of the same committee. Also in attendance are Li Xinnan, former Inspector of the Policy and Law Department at the Ministry of Science and Technology and Secretary-General of the Alliance's Pilot Work Contact Group, Chen Yongqing, ex-First-Level Inspector of the Soil and Ecological Environment Department at the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and Yang Shangbao, a public policy scholar and professor with a doctorate from the National Development and Reform Commission. More than 600 representatives from leading enterprises in the solid waste resource utilization sector, along with renowned scholars and research experts, have convened to engage in discussions on cutting-edge industry topics.
This accolade not only underscores Vary Tech's pioneering advancements in the realm of waste lithium battery recycling but also signifies the industry's profound acknowledgment of Vary's inventive prowess. As a vanguard in the sector, Vary Tech is progressively establishing a comprehensive green circular economy system within the domain of solid waste from renewable energy industries, including the recycling of retired photovoltaic modules, wind turbine blades, and the development of biochar-based materials. We eagerly anticipate partnering with industry stakeholders to delve into further sustainable development avenues and bolster the global circular economy.
