From September 2 to September 4, 2026, the 2026 Korea Re-Tech Exhibition (RETECH 2026) was successfully held at the KINTEX Exhibition Center in Korea. Vary Tech showcased its high-value recycling solutions for waste plastics and waste tyres, delivering fresh breakthroughs and proven commercial equipment for solid waste resource utilization in Korea and the broader Asia-Pacific region.

Powerful Alliances to Reshape Plastic Recycling: Partnering with Industry Giants for a "Chemical + Physical" Dual-Engine Closed Loop


In May 2026, South Korea's Plan for Promoting the Transition to a Plastic-Free Circular Economy specified that the proportion of recycled materials used should be increased to 30% by 2030. For South Korea, which relies heavily on resource imports, converting waste plastics into high-quality pyrolysis oil and chemical feedstocks via pyrolysis technology has become a critical element in safeguarding national energy security. Driven by policy dividends—such as the government-designated Ulsan "Regulation-Free Special Zone" and significant investments in core technologies—major local South Korean refining and petrochemical giants are accelerating the commercialization of waste plastic chemical recycling.

 

At the exhibition, Vary Tech joined forces with German chemical giant Evonik and leading Chinese petrochemical plant integrator SupeZET to demonstrate an end-to-end industry solution for "waste plastic chemical recycling to produce high-quality Plastic Pyrolysis Oil (PPO) and Circular Naphtha."
 
Within this closed-loop process, Vary Tech supplies continuous pyrolysis equipment in various daily processing capacities (5, 15, 30, and 50 tons per set), capable of operating stably for 8,000 hours annually. Mixed waste plastics are processed through Vary Tech's independently developed continuous pyrolysis systems to produce PPO. This PPO then enters Evonik’s proprietary pyrolysis oil upgrading and purification modules, followed by SupeZET’s advanced hydrotreating and fractionation modules for deep refinement. The process directly produces circular naphtha and high-grade PPO meeting international high-end petrochemical standards, seamlessly integrating into global petrochemical and low-carbon fuel supply chains to help South Korea and the world strengthen energy security.
 
For waste plastics suitable for mechanical (physical) recycling, Vary Tech simultaneously launched a turnkey solution covering crushing, washing, and pelletizing, with single-line capacities reaching 5 tons/hour and custom engineering available. The recently completed "China Resources Recycling Pingxiang Circular Economy Industrial Park Green Sorting Center" serves as a benchmark for this solution's efficient execution. Backed by strong engineering deployment capabilities and technological expertise, Vary Tech's invested chemical recycling facility for post-consumer waste plastics has operated stably for 5 years, processing over 110,000 tons of post-consumer waste plastics in total. Furthermore, its high-value plastic utilization plant possesses an annual processing capacity of 50,000 tons and features an innovative "Digital Trust Traceability System." This system enables real-time monitoring and data traceability across the entire recycling lifecycle for plastics from waste electronics, ensuring every recycled plastic pellet is fully verifiable and preventing "greenwashing" or false claims at the source.

Solving EPR Upgrade Challenges: Delivering an End-to-End "Crushing & Sorting + Pyrolysis" Solution for Waste Tyres

Since implementing the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) system, South Korea has established a mature waste tyre recovery network; however, end-of-life disposal remains heavily reliant on primary thermal utilization (such as cement kilns) or basic mechanical processing. As the demand for closed-loop materials and low-carbon recycling intensifies, oxygen-free pyrolysis technology capable of yielding high-quality recycled raw materials is emerging as a high-potential market opportunity in South Korea.

 

At RETECH 2026, Vary Tech demonstrated its "Comprehensive Waste Tyre Recycling System Solution," which integrates the entire chain from front-end pretreatment to back-end high-value conversion, drawing significant interest and inquiries from industry experts.

 

In front-end processing, the modularly designed waste tyre crushing and sorting line achieves a maximum annual capacity of 15,000 tons per line, with custom options available. For the core pyrolysis stage, large-scale continuous waste tyre pyrolysis units offer daily processing capacities of up to 100 tons per set, meeting the continuous operation needs of large facilities. Additionally, to accommodate diverse site constraints and investment scales, Vary Tech launched small skid-mounted and semi-continuous pyrolysis units featuring small footprints, low initial investment thresholds, and fast payback periods—precisely tailored to varied overseas application scenarios.

Expanding in Korea: From Tech Export to Industrial Co-Creation

Looking back at Vary Tech's growth trajectory in South Korea, the journey represents a strategic evolution from exporting individual products to co-building an industry ecosystem.

 

As early as 2023, Vary Tech officially joined the Korea Waste-to-Energy Industry Association and signed strategic cooperation agreements with local companies. The successful export of its first electromagnetic pyrolysis furnace set to South Korea marked the beginning of its localized practices for efficient waste plastic and tyre management. Since then, its internationalization has accelerated: in 2024, Vary Tech attended a side event at the Fifth Session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee on Plastic Pollution (INC-5) in Busan, signing a chemical recycling agreement with a local environmental firm; in 2025, it returned to RETECH, establishing ongoing collaboration mechanisms with multiple Korean environmental, energy, and resource recycling enterprises and associations; in 2026, another milestone was reached with the successful export of its first small-scale electric-heated (vacuum-type) complete pyrolysis system to South Korea.
